Bloomington Sustainable Gardens Tour
The Green Congregations Coalition is hosting a tour of sustainable lawns, community gardens and rain gardens on Saturday, July 27th, 2013 from 9:00-12:30.
The tour starts at St. Stephens Lutheran Church (France Ave & 84th St.)
The Tour sites:
- St. Stephens Lutheran Church (France Ave & 84th Street), to see their community garden which is raising fresh vegetables for VEAP,
- St. Mark's UCC (86th and Xerxes), to see their no-chemical lawn care (which permits dandelions to grow!), community garden and composting,
- City-sponsored neighborhood rain gardens in the nieghborhoods near Nine Mile Creek;
- Christ the King Lutheran Church (86th & Freemont), to see their community garden and the inexpensive rain garden they are building to cut storm water run-off into the creek.
The Tour is FREE.
Transportation is provided by Oak Grove Presbyterian bus or by car caravan (meet at St. Stephens Lutheran, France AVe & 84th, at 9am).
The Green Congregation Coalition and Bloomington Sustainability Coalition are sponsoring this tour.
