Saturday, February 8th, 1pm (sharp!)-3pm Meet at the Bush Lake Chapter Lodge (Directions)

The Bush Lake Chapter maintains 20 wood duck houses on Bush Lake and East Bay Pond (click for a video about maintenance). Each winter, we gather on the chapter grounds to do a little housecleaning on behalf of the woodies. We clean out all the old eggshells from last year and freshen up their cedar chips. We also take a count of how many hatchlings were produced last year and make small repairs to their nest boxes. Join us, help the woodies reproduce and learn all about wood ducks and why we put houses up for them.

These activities will take place on the shore and on the ice. Dress for the weather and conditions- bring water, snacks, and sunblock. Bring ice grips, poles, and tools (screwdrivers, multitools, wrench sets) if you have them. Bring snowshoes if you want to. Chapter members are encouraged to bring guests. Children are welcome but must be with a guardian. Open to the public.

Please register if you plan to attend. Contact Doug Claycomb with questions. Learn more about wood ducks by clicking here.

This event will be postponed or cancelled if ice conditions deteriorate or there is bad weather. Please register so we can contact you if this happens.
