Join us for exciting program all about Monarch Butterflies!

Free and Open to the Public.  Space is limited, registration is required. Children and Adults Welcome.  Children must be accompanied by an adult. Each participant will receive one milkweed plant and one monarch super food plant to plant at home!

Ann Hobbie, author of Monarch Butterflies, will present on monarch biology and conservation, followed by a “finger walk” through the book with Q/A both about monarchs and the book making process. The presentation will be of interest to adults and children. If time allows we will tour the Bush Lake Chapter grounds to look for monarchs and other butterflies!

Monarch Butterflies (Storey Publishing, 2021), beautifully illustrated by Olga Baumert, is a picture book for all ages. It contains factual information about the life cycle of monarchs, anatomy, the role of milkweed and other native plants, migration, and conservation.  Ann will bring copies of her book for sale.

Ann Hobbie is the past-chair and current at large member of the Monarch Joint Venture board of directors. Monarch Joint Venture is a national partnership of agencies, organizations, businesses, and academic programs working together to conserve the monarch butterfly migration. Ann, a former classroom teacher, has written curricula for K-12 science teachers related to monarchs and schoolyard ecosystems.

This program is made possible by Chapter member, Vienna Volante. Native plants donated by Natural Shore Technologies
